This was produced as a collaboration between director Fisher Stevens, Leonardo DiCaprio, James Packer, Brett Ratner, Trevor Davidoski, and Jennifer Davisson Killoran, with Martin Scorsese as executive producer.

It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was later aired on the National Geographic Channel.
